Only one official taxi company operates cabs from the airport to the city center, called Főtaxi.
Főtaxi has a desk outside of both terminals, where you can book your taxi. In these taxis you can also pay in euros or by card.

Airport shuttle services
The miniBUD airport shuttle collect passengers at the airport and takes each of them to their hotel, so this takes a bit longer than taxi. For more information click here: www.minibud.hu/en

Return ticket (airport-venue): 7900 HUF / 28,21€

Money and currency

The currency in Hungary is Hungarian Forints or HUF or Ft. One EUR is 312 HUF so 1000 HUF is approximately 3 EUR. You can pay in euros at many restaurants, shops and in taxis and shops usually announce their current exchange rate. If you are paying in Forints, there are banknotes for amounts of 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000 and 20000 – some exist in two different colours as new banknotes are being introduced. There are six different coins for Forints: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200.

Currency can be exchanged at banks and exchange offices available in town, but it may be easier to use the ATMs. Banks are closed on Saturdays and Sundays, but exchange offices at airports, railway stations and major tourist attractions are open seven days a week. Major credit and debit cards are widely accepted though some small hotels and restaurants may only accept cash.

10-15% tips at restaurantsare welcome when you are satisfied and happy with the service, unless service has been already included in the bill.
