With coordination by the Tempus Public Foundation, Hungarian universities participating under the Study in Hungary banner are actively strengthening their international networks at leading global education forums. This year, institutions successfully represented Hungary across continents at the APAIE and NAFSA conferences.

United Presence, Shared Success

International education fairs offer more than just visibility - they serve as strategic platforms for higher education institutions to forge global partnerships. For years, the Tempus Public Foundation has facilitated the joint presence of Hungarian universities at major international events, making nationwide outreach more effective and steadily increasing the global visibility of Hungarian higher education.

APAIE 2025 – Expanding Horizons in Asia

Held in late March in Delhi, APAIE 2025 brought together institutions from across the Asia-Pacific region to foster collaboration, with a strong focus on sustainability and inclusivity. Six Hungarian universities, including Széchenyi István University and the University of Szeged, represented Hungary at the event.

Annabella Bihari, representing Széchenyi István University, conducted nearly 40 meetings, primarily with Indian institutions and student recruitment agencies. Discussions centered on English-language programs and the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship scheme.

"Face-to-face meetings helped strengthen existing partnerships and identify new opportunities, making the event highly successful at the institutional level,” noted Annabella Bihari.

From the University of Szeged, Magdolna Gera and Dr. Tamás Monostori participated in the conference, engaging in 30–40 professional discussions focused on education and research collaborations. For the Faculty of Agriculture, building ties with institutions offering agricultural programs was a key objective.

“APAIE 2025 provided an excellent opportunity to connect with new partners in the Asian region and reinforce Hungary’s presence in international higher education,” summarized Dr. Monostori.

The Hungarian delegation also attended APAIE’s Welcome Reception and visited the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, hosted by the Hungarian Embassy - opening doors to further cooperation.

NAFSA 2025 - Hungary at One of the World’s Largest Education Forums

NAFSA 2025 took place in late May in San Diego, USA, gathering over 10,000 professionals and 300 exhibiting organizations. This year’s theme - Purpose, Place, and Partnershiphighlighted the core values of internationalisation.

Six Hungarian universities showcased their academic offerings at the Study in Hungary booth, promoting not only Hungarian higher education but also the country’s culture to a global audience.

The University of Szeged delegation held numerous meetings with partners from the U.S., China, and Turkey. Key topics included application platform development, CRM system integration, agency collaborations, mobility programs, and joint degree initiatives.

“Our presence at NAFSA was extremely valuable - we identified potential partners across several areas,” said Rita Csúri-Magosi, Head of the International Programs Office at the University of Szeged.

Looking Ahead – Opportunities at EAIE

Tempus Public Foundation remains committed to supporting the international engagement of Hungarian higher education institutions. The upcoming EAIE conference this autumn presents another excellent opportunity for universities to connect with European partners and strengthen existing collaborations.
